When we talked with Joe Wirkus and Howie Grigg, owners of Supreme Health and Fitness on Odana Road, they had just started re-opening their health club. After being closed for two months, and with health precautions limiting the club’s capacity, nothing has returned to normal. But the club, locally owned since opening in 1976, weathered the Covid-19 storm with virtual classes.
“I’m just glad to be able to go back to work,” Howie said.
The club has implemented new safety protocols and social distancing rules to make sure everyone stays safe while still being able to improve their health and fitness.
This gym means so much to so many,” said fitness director Shana Verstegen. “Open since 1976, it is about as far from a ‘big box’ gym as it gets. Everybody knows your name. It is a fun, safe, and comfortable place to exercise and make friends.”
